TENEMENT HOUSE - A PEARL OF MODERNIST ARCHITECTURE:
The tenement house was built in 1939-1940 according to a design by Edward Sułkowski. It was characterized by a luxurious modernist style with Art Deco finishes and an excellent location.
The building was owned by the Horacy Heller Trade and Industry Association. Its beautiful Art Deco details remain a delight to this day: the hand-forged entrance gate (original from the period), the French-style wrought-iron balconies, and the monumental staircase. The building's façade is clad with hand-forged sandstone slabs. Due to the high cost, this finish was typically found only in luxury tenement buildings.
The architect designed the apartments with the largest double-pane windows in Warsaw's residential buildings . Low, French-style marble window sills allow for a comfortable view even from a seated position. The 3.15-centimeter high ceilings and the apartments' generous square footage reflected the owners' prestige. The building has two new elevators. It's also significant that the building wasn't damaged during the war, so it retains its pre-war quality and finishing details.
The apartment is located in a prestigious tenement building on Karowa Street, right next to the Bristol Hotel. Its proximity to two of Warsaw's most prestigious hotels, the Bristol and the Europejski Hotel, the luxurious shopping center at the Europejski Hotel, a Hermes store, and an Aston Martin make this place unique.
- The location of the tenement house on a slope with a view of the treetops, the garden of the presidential palace and the proximity of the Bristol Hotel (40 m) as well as the proximity of the Powiśle parks make it one of the best locations in Warsaw (both today and historically).
- Krakowskie Przedmieście has always been Warsaw's living room, where meetings of the elite from the world of culture and business take place.
- Walking downstairs for breakfast at Bristol takes 2 minutes. The building is situated on a slope, so in the other direction there is Powiśle Park / Boscaiola restaurant and a 7-minute walk to the Powiśle Power Plant.
